Dr. Kyrpides leads the Genome Biology Program in the development of the comparative analysis platforms for microbial genomes and metagenomes (IMG). He became the Metagenomics Program head in 2010 and has the combined Microbial Genomes and Metagenomes Program since 2011. Prior to joining the DOE Joint Genome Institute, Dr. Kyrpides led the development of the genome analysis and Bioinformatics core at Integrated Genomics Inc. in Chicago, IL.

Information on Travel & Stay

We will be booking stay at the Tokyo Hilton Odaiba, on Tokyo Bay. We are finalizing the group rate and when announce when that is ready. We recommend booking your stay here, as it is a 10 min walk (5 min drive) to the conference venue.

Citizens from many countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore, and most EU countries, can enter Japan without a visa for short stays (up to 90 days) for tourism, business, or visiting friends and relatives. This exemption applies to standard passport holders.

For those who do not qualify for visa-free entry, Japan offers an electronic visa (eVisa) system.

We recommend flying in and out of Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo, if you are traveling to Japan. The other airport is the Narita International Airport (NRT), which is located further outside of Tokyo.
