The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system of Singapore was founded in 1987 and is the second-oldest metro system in all of Southeast Asia. All five of the lines are built by the Land Transportation Authority (LTA), which is a statutory board of the Government of Singapore. Services operate from about 5:30 AM to 1 AM daily with trains arriving approximately every 1 to 2 minutes during rush hours and at least every 6 minutes or less at all other times.
